This image that was taken was done with the help of Kristi Hoppert. The subject matter is Killashandra Link at a turf soccer field on the island in Kalamari, Santorini. The reason for choosing this is to express the life, teamwork, effort, nature and sweat that each and everyone of us endures in life. Taken at this turf field this image expresses who I am, but before looking at who I am it is important to show where I came from and my past. Soccer has always been a part of my life and a part of who I am. Since the age of four I have always participated in the sport. From a very early age I learned the value of hard work, sweat, and teamwork. It is from soccer that I have learned valuable lessons of life and how these lessons mold and create an individual. I took these lessons and in turn molded the person I am today, who I want to be, and am always constantly improving on it. To be a team player and help others, to always work for everything most importantly to always be myself. To be an individual in a society where I stand out from the crowd being true to myself. This is the huge impact the sport of soccer has had in my life and why I ultimately chose this scene for my self-portrait. I figured this was the best way to show who I am in Santorini.
